Shrove Tuesday

This week we had Shrove or Pancake Tuesday marking the start of lent and the run-up to Easter. One of the favourite things to do that day is to obviously make and/or eat pancakes. Many classes took part!

Football

Football is a much loved game in Dunmurry Primary School, with many children enjoying playing it at break and lunch times. We have entered some football competitions over the course of the year and this week we entered the Lisburn Girls' football competition. The girls team played amazingly well, making Mrs Malcolmson very proud, and have managed to get to the final which will be played on the 8th March. We wish them the best of luck for their next matches.

Also on the football theme the P7's were very lucky to get a free tour of Windsor stadium with Mr Stephen Shaw, an elected director of Linfield Football Club, this week. They were able to take the train down and see both the inside and outside of the stadium, some different Linfield kits and trophies. They were also very lucky to receive 2 free tickets to the match this weekend which I'm sure several will enjoy making use of.

Cricket Coaching

This week a new sport was introduced to P6. They had cricket coaching from Wayne Hughes from the Northern Cricket Union of Ireland. Wayne will be coming to school every Friday until Easter to teach them the skills of the game.

World Book Day

World Book Day is Thursday 2nd March 2023, at Dunmurry Primary School we will be celebrating it on Friday 3rd March. Everyone from Nursery - P7 is encouraged to come to school dressed as a character from a book they have read. It doesn't have to be a fancy, bought costume, home-made ones are often the best.

We have £1 book tokens to go home that day with every child which can be used in any bookshops before the 26th March. Also on that day classes will be getting together, so the older children can read to some of the younger ones.
